The Final Stop on Our Magical Ride

Well friends, it’s time to disembark. As our Rotary year comes to a close and we head toward our final destination—the International Convention in Calgary, Alberta, Canada—let’s take a moment to reflect on the unforgettable ride we’ve shared. It’s been magical, meaningful, and more than a little fun.

We boarded this train with big dreams, and along the way, we created real magic. Together, we shattered records and broke glass ceilings:
  • Over $1.3 million in Bequest Endowed giving
  • Nearly $400,000 in other Endowed gifts
  • A record-setting $295,000 in PolioPlus  giving
  • A new high of $650,000+ to the Annual Fund-Share
  • Every Club had giving to The Rotary Foundation in both Annual Fund and Polio Plus
  • Welcomed two new Arch Klumph Society (AKS) members
  • Celebrated one generous Rotarian Couple who stepped up into the prestigious AKS Chair’s Circle
We celebrated 38 new Major Donors and welcomed 20 new White Hat Society members into our giving family. And if you missed it, Space Center Rotarian, Stan Galanski, was the lucky winner of the White Hat raffle at District Conference—so be on the lookout for him proudly donning his new hat!

But it wasn’t just about fundraising—it was about people. We weathered storms, fed our neighbors, built beds with our Youth Exchange students, and supported one another through challenges and triumphs alike.

We also said goodbye to 31 beloved Rotarians who rode the Angel Train this year. Their absence is deeply felt, but their legacy lives on in the service and love they left behind.

As we turn out the lights on June 30th, I hope your heart is as full as mine. I’ve been deeply honored to serve as your District Governor. Thank you for taking this magical ride with me. Thank you for the laughter, the dedication, the joy—and for giving me the time of my life.

Here’s to new tracks, bright horizons, and the magic we carry forward.

With love and gratitude,

Nancy Anderson
2024 - 2025 District Governor

rotarians, take action!

Have you ever asked yourself how your club could be part of a global project that creates real, measurable impact?

Have you dreamed of seeing your club recognized for its role in a Rotary Global Grant?

Do you want to make a transformational difference right here in our own backyard?

That time is now.
The need is urgent.
The mission is clear.

We are calling on every club and every Rotarian to join the largest Global Grant ever written to support the Greater Houston Metro – Harris County area:

Global Grant GG2579105: "Stop Human Trafficking. Clean Up Our Streets"

This isn’t happening halfway around the world — it’s happening in our streets, our neighborhoods, our city.

This grant will fund real solutions, early intervention, prevention, and support for survivors. But it won’t happen without you.

We need to raise $100,000 from clubs in our district. If each club gives $2,000, we’ll meet that goal.

Can’t give that much? Even $500 will help us get there. Some clubs have already pledged above and beyond — now we need your support.

But this is more than just a call for dollars.
This is a call for hands, hearts, and voices.

Rotarians will have the chance to serve directly:

  • Help sort donations and assemble “Go Bags” for trafficking victims.

  • Train and partner with local professionals from Unbound Now to reach youth in juvenile centers.

  • Invite our District Anti-Trafficking Task Force Chair, Deborah Brinen, to speak at your club and share how you can take action.

  • Stay engaged all year long as we roll out hands-on service opportunities across the district.

This is what Rotary was made for. This is our moment to rise, to lead, and to change lives.

Talk with your board. Talk with your club. Decide to act.

Let us know how your club will support this Global Grant — with dollars, with service, with heart.

Questions? Reach out anytime to either Deborah Brinen (djubrinen@gmail.com), the Anti-Trafficking Task Force Chair, or Stan Galanski (Stan.galanski.jr@gmail.com), the Grant Writer. Most importantly — don’t sit this one out.

Let’s show the world what it looks like when Rotary shows up — together.
