Rotary's February Theme is
"Peacebuilding & Conflict Resolution"
Governor's Corner
Hello, my fellow District 5890 Rotarians!

January has been nothing short of spectacular! We kicked off the year by celebrating at our All Club Gala, where Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick delivered an inspiring keynote address. What an incredible opportunity to come together and celebrate the amazing projects happening across our district. We also had the honor of recognizing over 50 new Major Donor — truly a testament to the generosity and dedication of District 5890 Rotarians.

Speaking of generosity, our Rotary Foundation "Road to $2 Million" campaign is steaming ahead! At our Million Dollar Tea, we raised over $1.2 million in Bequest giving and nearly $800,000 in cash and endowed giving. That’s over $2 million raised for the Rotary Foundation this Rotary year! District 5890, your kindness and commitment continue to inspire and uplift.

As we roll into February, it’s time to focus on Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution. I’m thrilled to be attending the Rotary Presidential Peace Conference in Istanbul, Türkiye, this month. This gathering will celebrate the launch of the Otto and Fran Walter Peace Center in partnership with Bahçeşehir University. We’ll be tackling big topics like technology’s role in peacebuilding, addressing environmental issues, and ensuring peace is sustainable in a polarized world. These lessons will empower us to take meaningful action and create lasting change.

Once I return, I’ll be packing my bags again for our annual Lone Star P.E.T.S. (President-Elect Training Seminar) in Grapevine. This is an exciting milestone for our incoming club leaders, and I can’t wait to see the vision and passion they bring to their roles. The road ahead is bright for District 5890, and I’m confident we’ll keep this train rolling full steam ahead.

Looking ahead, don’t forget to secure your tickets for the District Conference in College Station, May 1 – 4. The train has plenty of stops left on this journey, and you won’t want to miss the magic we’re creating together. As the song goes, “We got magic to do, we got parts to perform, hearts to warm, kings and things to take by storm.” Let’s keep bringing the Magic of Rotary to life in all that we do — and don’t forget to share your magic with others along the way.

All aboard!

Yours In Rotary Service,

Nancy Anderson
