And, the show continues! As we move into the fourth month of the Rotary year, I want to again express my sincere appreciation for all of your positive feedback, support, and most importantly, for all of the incredible work that each of you do for children, adults, and communities through Rotary.
We just finished 20 District Governor Multi-Club visits! I truly enjoyed visiting with everyone, especially seeing the camaraderie and warmth within each group.
I must send a sincere shout out to our Chief of Staff for Assistant Governors, Scotty Jung, for his extraordinary work in coordinating all of the visits. I thank everyone that traveled with me as part of our Presentation Team:

To celebrate World Polio Day on October 24, we have many exciting Polio fundraising events during the month of October:
Come out to (gently:-)) put a Pie for Polio in my face at The Club at Falcon Point, 24503 Falcon Point Dr, Katy, TX 77494 (Poolside), on Thursday, October 16, from 11:45 am - 1:00 pm! I challenge y’all to have the highest number of pies ever put into a DG’s face!!
Finally, on a very personal note, I was moved to tears because of the outpouring from my Rotary Family, as well as other family and friends, upon the passing of my Mother, Mary Olga Kelchner, on September 23, 2025. Facebook comments, texts, email, calls and gifts sent to me have overwhelmed me! This is who we are… a Family. I thank each and everyone of you for your thoughts and prayers.

Rotary District 5890 + FIFA World Cup 26™ = Hope for Houston’s Youth
We’re thrilled to join the Art of Soccer campaign with the FIFA World Cup 26™ Houston Host Committee! Our custom-designed Rotary ball — featuring Polio Plus Champion Rylan Morrison and Rotary’s Avenues of Service — is touring Houston to raise funds for legacy programs that “Grow the Game” for underserved youth, protect our planet, and champion human rights.

The District Nominating Committee would like to invite you to an informational meeting about the position of District
Governor. The District Governor serves a very important leadership position in the District, and this meeting is an opportunity to learn about the job. Whether you think you would like to ask your club to nominate you for the position or are thinking about that for some future date or you are just curious about the job, this meeting is for you!
Nominations for the 2028 - 2029 District Governor will be accepted October 29 - December 12, 2025.
Informational Meeting: Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 6pm. Light hors d’oeuvres and cash bar with presentations beginning at 6:30.

Say nice things and send compliments to fellow Rotarians while raising money for Polio! District Governor Tom Kelchner's goal is to raise $10,000 for The Rotary Foundation's PolioPlus fund by showing kindness and gratitude in our district!
Know who you want to give your first rose to? Get started by going to the Roses for Polio page on our District website.
Important! After you make your donation, don't forget to "Increase Your Impact" by completing:
Step 1: "Make it Personal": Write a message, including the name(s) of the person receiving your rose(s), plus why you're donating.
Step 2: "Share this Fundraiser": Click the Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and/or email icons to SHARE your Rose! Don't forget to TAG the person(s) receiving your rose(s)!
Then, head on over to the "Wall of Roses" to see all the gratitude roses that have been given across our district and the progress toward Governor Tom's goal of $10,000! Roses for Polio will run this entire 2025 - 2026 Rotary year!

October 16: The Rotary Club of Houston would like to invite Rotarians in District 5890 to join them for a boat tour of the Port of Houston led by Ric Campo. The event is free and the Port is providing lunch. Sign up here!
