Rotary District 5890 has arranged a Friendship Exchange with District 1880, specifically the city of Leipzig, Germany, for a time period of Tuesday â€" Monday of October 6 â€" 11, 2009.  Information and arrangements can be made through Phil Cezeaux or Lindsey Kroll at houstonleipzig@gmail.com

There are many activities planned for this period, including a Rotary World Peace Convention and the dedication of a new modern stained glass window above the St. Thomas Church choir loft of where J.S. Bach presided.

The Church of St. Thomas was founded in 1212 as the church of the Augustinian Canons' seminary. In the choir chamber lies the grave of Johann Sebastian Bach, who was working here from 1723 to 1750 as composer and choir-master of the world famous Thomas Choir. Bach is buried in the Church Nave. In 1539 also Martin Luther preached here.

The recommended structure is to attend Rotary events with your host Rotarian and to attend other events either together or separately, as you choose.  There will be plenty to do, so don't worry about activities.
