Social work is a value-based profession dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families and conditions in communities and the world. The Bachelor of Social Work Program at UHD prepares students as professionals in service to others with a commitment to social justice. Graduates of our program are prepared, engaged, and connected to serve the needs of underserved individuals, families, and communities.
To apply, students will
· Have been admitted to the BSW program at UHD
· Have a GPA of 2.5 for the most recent 30 hours taken within the past five years
· Submit an application and an essay describing their commitment to service, potential for leadership, and need for financial assistance for the successful attainment of their educational and career goals
Priority for the award will be given to students representing disadvantaged populations
Recipients will be obligated to the following:
1) Perform a 400-hour internship with an organization in one of the following practice areas:
Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
Disease prevention and treatment
Water and sanitation
Maternal and child health
Basic education and literacy
Economic and community development
2) Maintain a GPA of 2.5
3) Conduct a presentation of their educational and service experience at a Rotary Club meeting near or upon graduation from the program
