It is with great sadness that we remember our dear friend and Memorial-Spring Branch Rotarian, Bill Haglund, who passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Bill was deeply involved in Rotary at both the district and club levels and exemplified the spirit of Service Above Self.
Most notably, he played a key role in supporting the scholarship recipient program through Charities, Inc., helping ensure that students in need within Spring Branch ISD had the opportunity to pursue a college education. Bill’s contributions to Rotary and the broader community are sincerely appreciated, and he will be deeply missed.
Bill also served on almost every District 5890 committee for years under the invitation from multiple district governors. His in-depth experience as the Rotary District 5890 Global Grant Scholarship Committee Co-Chair helped develop our District 5890's premier scholarship program. His leadership and expertise was invaluable, and the lives of countless Rotary Foundation Global Grant Scholarship recipients that studied abroad will impact the world for future decades thanks to Bill.
Bill’s funeral service was held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where the sanctuary was filled with friends and loved ones who had come from near and far. Members of his church community and fellow Rotarians gathered together to honor a life that touched so many. The service reflected the deep respect, admiration, and affection people held for Bill. He was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. We deeply miss you, Bill.
