Sweeny High School Interact Club In Rotary District 5890 Values Selfless  Service

South of Houston, the students of Sweeny High School's Interact Club are proving that age is no barrier to making a real difference in your community. Sponsored by the Sweeny Rotary Club, these dedicated teenagers are putting Rotary's motto into practice through hands-on projects supporting animals, veterans, elderly residents, and local families - and they're doing it with heart, energy, and genuine purpose.

Interact - short for "international action" - is a worldwide youth service organization sponsored by Rotary International. It brings together young people ages 12 to 18 who want to develop leadership skills, discover the power of Service Above Self, and build friendships that span the globe.

The movement is massive: globally, there are 342,953 Interact members in 14,911 Interact clubs across 145 countries. The Sweeny Interact Club is proud to be part of that worldwide network - while staying deeply rooted in serving its own hometown.

Ask any member of the Sweeny Interact Club what they do, and you'll get a simple, humble answer. "We're really just a service club that goes around and helps wherever we can," said Sweeny senior Lyla York.

That "wherever we can" spirit has translated into projects that touch nearly every corner of the community - caring for animals in need, honoring local veterans, brightening the days of elderly residents, and lending a hand to families who need extra support. It's service without boundaries, driven by students who simply see a need and show up.

Joining Interact offers students far more than a line on a college application.
