PROJECT #1: 
"Veteran Healing Garden at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center"
  • Date:  Saturday, April 30th
  • Time:  2PM - 4 PM
  • Location:  Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Veteran Healing Garden,  2002 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030
  • What we'll do:  Join us to assemble benches & planters, plus plant flowers

PROJECT #2: 
"Packing Personal Care Hygiene Kits for Homeless Veterans"
  • Date:  Saturday, April 30th
  • Time:  2PM - 4 PM
  • Location:  Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake, 3000 E NASA Parkway, Houston (Clear Lake) which is the location of our Rotary District 5890 Conference (Ask hotel's Front Desk staff for directions)
  • What we'll do:  Assemble Individual Hygiene Kits for Homeless Veterans
  • You can: Donate personal care items (see list below), volunteer to pack kits, or do both!

PROJECT OVERVIEW
We need sponsors and donations for the following:
 
  • Donate computers and printers to the new Homeless Veteran Community Resource and Referral Center
  • Assemble outdoor benches and flower planters for the Veteran Healing Garden
    • Plant annual flowers
  • Donate items to fill individual hygiene kits
  • Sponsor Camp Shield programs to Empower Women Veterans

  • Veteran Employability Sponsorship Levels -
    • ~ Rocket ($1500):  Provide 1 computer, printer paper and ink for 1 year
    • ~ Spaceship ($1000):  Provide 1 computer and 1 printer
    • ~ ISS ($500):  Provide 1 computer
 
  • Veteran Healing Garden Sponsorship Levels (purchase annual flowers)
    • ~ The Milky Way ($500)
    • ~ Haley’s Comet ($250)
    • ~ The Big Dipper ($100) 
 
  • Empowering Women Veterans through Camp Shield
    • ~ The C-130 ($5,000):  Sponsor 20 Women Veterans to attend a 3-day Post-Traumatic Growth Retreat
    • ~ The F35 ($2,500):  Sponsor 3-day Retreat Personal Growth and Development Workshops (facilitators, materials, etc)
    • ~ The Battleship ($1,000):  The Battleship:  Sponsor a monthly SHE THRIVES workshop for 25 Women Veterans
    • ~ The HMMWV ($500):  Sponsor a Mastermind Book Club (10 weeks) for 10 Women Veterans
    • ~ The Bradley ($100):  Help build the Camp Shield Post Traumatic Growth Library
 
  • Build Homeless Veteran Hygiene Kits
    • ~ Bring travel size hygiene items for 5 kits OR
    • ~ Donate $50
    • ~ Write “Thank You” notes for each kit
 
  • Time and Labor - Saturday - April 30th - 2 PM until 4 PM - Questions: info@campshield.org
    • ~ PROJECT #1:  Join us at the Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center on Saturday, April 30th from 2-4 PM to assemble benches and planters and plant flowers
    • ~ PROJECT #2: Assemble hygiene kits on April 30th from 2-4 PM at our Rotary District Conference Location.  Bring your donated items and volunteer with us at Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake at 3000 E NASA Parkway, Houston 77058

PARTNER WITH US to fill hygiene kits for homeless veterans

At our 2022 District Conference we will be packing one-gallon bags filled with personal care items listed below and gifting them to homeless veterans.  Bring your donated items with you the conference and help us!
Hygiene Kit Items that we need:
  • ~ Toothbrushes
  • ~ Toothpaste
  • ~ Baby wipes
  • ~ Deodorant (men’s and women’s)
  • ~ Feminine hygiene products (tampons and pads)
  • ~ Razors (men’s and women’s)
  • ~ Socks (men’s and women’s)
  • ~ Lotion
  • ~ Shampoo
  • ~ Conditioner
  • ~ Body wash/Soap
  • ~ Bags (gallon Ziploc or otherwise) to put items into
 
HYGIENE KITS PACKING DATE:  April 30th
TIME:  2-4 PM

HOW TO HELP:  We welcome you to come volunteer to pack the kits with us and/or bring your donation of items to fill the kits.
